Tricks That Can Help You Find Relief From Tooth Sensitivity

Did you know there are things you can do to relieve your tooth sensitivity? Well, it’s true. In fact, you might be able to return to a normal life that involves comfortably consuming hot and cold foods and beverages and even taking deep breaths of cold air! Our dentist, Dr. Frank Russomanno, Jr., is happy to tell you all about the tricks to soothing tooth sensitivity because he wants you to have the top-notch oral health you deserve. Those tricks are:

-Change the brand of toothpaste you use: Sometimes whitening toothpaste and extremely abrasive toothpaste can wear away the tooth enamel, irritate the gums and even make the gums recede from the teeth. It’s best to stop using those pastes and change to a desensitizing or fluoride toothpaste.

-Don’t be too tough on the teeth: Having a rigorous brushing routine and using a hard-bristled toothbrush can cause tooth sensitivity because it can wear down the tooth enamel and irritate the oral tissues. So, try to brush softer and don’t use a hard-bristled toothbrush—use a soft-bristled toothbrush.

-Use fluoride: Fluoride is a natural mineral that can strengthen your tooth enamel and block the channels that lead to the tooth nerves. So, do your best to expose your smile to fluoride regularly. You can do this by brushing with fluoride toothpaste, using fluoride mouthwash, drinking fluoridated water and receiving a professional fluoride treatment.
