Remembering to Floss

Posted .

Do you ever forget to floss? If so, it’s time to eliminate that habit. Flossing is very important for your smile and oral health. In fact, it’s vital when preventing dental issues like tooth decay and gum disease. Those issues are very dangerous and can destroy the smile if you let them. This is why it’s very important to floss at least once a day. Our dentist, Dr. Frank Russomanno, Jr., is happy to help you remember to floss by encouraging you to do the following things:

-Set a reminder for yourself: You can do this by writing it on your calendar on the wall, by setting a reminder on your phone, or by writing on a sticky note and placing it on the bathroom mirror. Make sure to remind yourself once a day.

-Keep your floss by your toothbrush: You brush twice a day, which means you see your brush often. Set your floss by your toothbrush so when you go to brush, you’ll be reminded to floss as well.

-Keep floss handy: Sometimes flossing as part of the oral hygiene routine can be tough, so keep floss with you in your purse, backpack or briefcase. Seeing the floss throughout the day can remind you to floss, and it can allow you to floss after lunch, before meetings or during work.
